Worldwalker Games, the team behind the turn-based tactical RPG Wildermyth, recently announced that active development on the game is complete. The release of the second DLC, Omenroad, turned Wildermyth into a roguelike, marking the end of new content updates for the game. Studio co-owner Nate Austin informed fans that while critical bug fixes will still be addressed, no new content should be expected in the future.

In the announcement, Nate Austin revealed that Worldwalker Games will be saying farewell to many team members as they go into hibernation. This decision does not come from the lack of success with Omenroad, as the DLC has been performing well. Instead, Austin stated that the team is moving on from the project after dedicating 11 years to Wildermyth.

Possibility of a Return

While Worldwalker Games is going into hibernation, Austin hinted at the potential for a return in the future. He expressed confidence that the team will find another project to pour their passion into, even though they are not currently planning a Wildermyth sequel. Austin explained that they typically discover new projects by taking time away from game development and allowing ideas to naturally evolve.

The team at Worldwalker Games reflected on their 11-year journey of developing Wildermyth. Despite the challenging moments and hard work that went into creating the game, they expressed gratitude for the experience and the support from the community. While moving on from Wildermyth may be bittersweet, the team is looking forward to exploring new creative opportunities in the future.

The end of active development on Wildermyth marks a significant chapter in Worldwalker Games’ history. As the team prepares to go into hibernation, fans can only speculate on what the future holds for this talented group of developers. While it may be the end of an era for Wildermyth, it could also be the beginning of an exciting new journey for Worldwalker Games.
