WhatsApp is currently working on a new feature that will provide users with the ability to set a default theme, allowing them to customize the color of chat bubbles within the app on their smartphones. This feature was discovered during the development phase by a feature tracker in a recent beta version of the app designed for iPhone users. The Meta-owned messaging platform recently made updates to the color scheme of its iOS app, incorporating a green accent for various components like buttons and notification counters.

In the latest WhatsApp beta for iOS version 24.11.10.70, being rolled out to users through Apple’s TestFlight testing program, a new feature called Default chat theme has been identified as a work in progress. Although the feature is not currently available for activation, it is anticipated that beta testers will have the opportunity to experiment with it at a later date. The Default chat theme feature presents users with a choice of five color presets, including the default green theme along with blue, grey, red, and purple options.

The leaked image showcasing the new chat theme picker within the app reveals that users will be able to select a theme from the settings menu. Upon choosing a specific theme, the color scheme and wallpaper, along with the corresponding themed WhatsApp doodle background, will be applied to the user’s chat interface. It is important to note that unlike Instagram, where chat themes can be set on a per-chat basis, setting a chat theme on WhatsApp will only be effective on the same device.

The new chat theme picker feature is expected to be introduced to beta testers on iOS in the near future before it becomes available on the stable channel for all users. This enhancement in personalization options will allow WhatsApp users to further customize their chat experience and tailor it to their preferences. Stay tuned for updates on this exciting new feature from WhatsApp!

The addition of the Default chat theme feature on WhatsApp demonstrates the platform’s commitment to enhancing user experience by providing more customization options. With this upcoming feature, users will have the ability to personalize their chat interface with different color themes, adding a touch of individuality to their conversations. WhatsApp continues to evolve and innovate, catering to the diverse preferences of its user base.
