No Rest For The Wicked, a grimdark hack-and-slasher game, has recently undergone a major update that focuses on revamping the Crucible. This endgame content, known for its repeatable roguelite nature, now features added randomization to its arenas and introduces a new system of player buffs.
One of the standout features of this update is the introduction of Echoes to the Cerim Crucible. Echoes allow players to customize each run by providing a wide variety of buffs and effects. This creates a plethora of possibilities as players can now stack different buffs on top of their existing build. With the randomization of Echoes, each run in the Crucible promises a unique gameplay experience.
The update has tripled the number of randomised chambers in the Crucible, introduced a new art theme, added a new vendor, and unveiled a new enemy faction called the Gloam. The Gloam, characterized by their “corrupt bioluminescence”, are currently exclusive to the Crucible but will eventually make their way to the game’s overworld in a future update.
Aside from the Crucible changes, the update also includes extensions to the game’s overworld, new gear upgrades, enhanced combat effects, the addition of stray animals that players can interact with, various performance improvements, and Steam Deck verification. Players can access the full patch notes on Steam for more details.
