Google has introduced a new feature called Help Me Write, which allows users to work on any text box. By simply selecting the text and right-clicking, a box will appear next to the standard right-click context menu. This feature enables users to ask Google’s AI to rewrite the selected text, rephrase it in a specific way, or even change the tone. However, during testing, the suggestions provided by Help Me Write were not satisfactory, indicating that there may be room for improvement in this area.

Another interesting addition is the generative AI wallpaper system that Google is bringing to ChromeOS, similar to what is found in Android. Users can now access this feature in ChromeOS’s wallpaper settings and generate images based on specific parameters. Surprisingly, users can even create wallpapers while in a video-calling app by tapping on a menu option next to the system tray and clicking “Create with AI.” Although the concept of a background featuring a “surreal bicycle made of flowers in pink and purple” may seem odd to some, it showcases the capabilities of AI technology.

The Magic Editor, a feature that was initially introduced in Google’s Pixel 8 smartphones, is now available on Chromebook Plus laptops. In the Google Photos app, users can edit a photo and find the option for Magic Editor, which allows them to erase unwanted objects, move subjects within the frame, and fill in backgrounds. Testing this feature showed promising results, such as quickly erasing a paint can from a photo of a dog. This demonstrates the practical applications of AI in enhancing photography editing.

Gemini, a stand-alone app, is a versatile tool that can assist users in various tasks, such as writing cover letters, breaking down complex topics, or seeking travel tips. However, it is essential to double-check the results to avoid any inaccuracies. For new Chromebook Plus owners, Google is offering 12 months free access to the Gemini Advanced model until the end of the year. This upgraded version of Google One provides access to Gemini for Workspace, 2 terabytes of storage, and additional perks, making it a valuable offer for users seeking enhanced productivity tools.
