The long-awaited PC release of the survival shooter game Vigor has finally been announced after being exclusive to consoles for over half a decade. Developed by Bohemia Interactive, the game is set in a post-apocalyptic Norway and allows players to navigate the wasteland world of the Outlands filled with other survivor groups. With various game modes including Shootout deathmatches, team Elimination battles, and Loot Events, players must compete to gather resources to upgrade their shelter and craft better weapons.

Although Vigor has been available on Xbox, PlayStation, and Nintendo Switch, the decision to introduce it to PC has been met with mixed reactions. The game will enter early access on Steam next month, requiring players to purchase a Reinforcements Pack for $20 to gain early access and exclusive in-game items. The early access period is expected to last for about three months, during which progress will be reset before the full release.

Bohemia Interactive has cited the importance of receiving early feedback from players to improve the game before its official release. The company acknowledges the challenges of adapting a console game for PC and sees the early access phase as an opportunity to address any issues and refine the gameplay. Despite being a free-to-play title, the decision to charge for early access raises questions about the game’s overall value and consumer perception.

Delayed PC Release

The delay in bringing Vigor to PC has raised concerns among fans who have been eagerly waiting for its release on the platform. While Bohemia Interactive has mentioned receiving numerous requests to bring the game to PC, they have not provided specific reasons for the delay. Additionally, the much-requested overhaul of the game’s gunplay will be tested in the PC version during the early access phase, indicating potential improvements in gameplay mechanics.

Future Plans for Vigor

The early access release of Vigor on Steam is scheduled for May, with plans to transition into a fully free-to-play game later in the summer. Cross-play functionality will allow PC players to compete with console users, expanding the player base and promoting overall multiplayer engagement. However, the lack of a specific release date for the PC version raises concerns about the game’s development timeline and potential delays in the launch.

The announcement of Vigor’s PC release brings both excitement and skepticism within the gaming community. While the game’s unique survival concept and multiplayer features have garnered attention, the decision to monetize early access and the lack of transparency regarding the delayed PC release raise doubts about the developer’s intentions. As Vigor prepares to make its debut on a new platform, it faces the challenge of meeting player expectations and delivering a polished gaming experience that justifies the long wait for PC players.
