Snowflake, a data cloud analytics company, experienced a significant drop in its share price by 13% following the release of its fiscal second-quarter 2025 earnings report. While the company managed to exceed Wall Street’s revenue expectations with $869 million in revenue, investors were concerned about the decelerating growth in product revenue compared to previous quarters.

Financial Performance Overview

Despite reporting $829.3 million in product revenue, which represents a 30% year-over-year increase, it was noted that this growth rate had slowed down from the 34% seen in the fiscal first quarter. Additionally, Snowflake’s net loss widened to $317 million, resulting in a loss of 95 cents per share, compared to $227 million, or a loss of 69 cents per share, in the same period the previous year.

While Morgan Stanley analysts acknowledged that Snowflake’s results were positive, they raised concerns that it may not have been enough to satisfy investors. The slower growth in product revenue and the missed expectations may lead to uncertainty among investors. However, the analysts were optimistic about Snowflake’s new generative artificial intelligence portfolio contributing to future growth.

Barclays analysts maintained an equal weight rating on Snowflake’s stock, suggesting that the second-quarter results were not a significant catalyst for the company’s investment case. Investors were particularly interested in how Snowflake would navigate potential challenges such as cyberattacks and service outages, but the company managed to address these concerns and maintain its growth trajectory.

Snowflake’s second-quarter earnings report reflected a mixed performance, with positive revenue figures overshadowed by concerns over slowing growth rates. While some analysts remain cautious, others see potential in the company’s long-term prospects. As Snowflake continues to evolve its product offerings and navigate challenges in the market, the future remains uncertain, but opportunities for growth and innovation persist.
