Recently, Amazon Kindle users faced a frustrating outage that prevented them from downloading both new and previously purchased books to their e-readers. Reports of this issue surfaced on Amazon’s support forums and Reddit, sparking frustration among users who rely on their Kindles for reading.

Amazon devices spokesperson, Jackie Burke, acknowledged the problem and assured users that the issue was quickly resolved. Despite this assurance, some users continued to experience difficulties with downloading ebooks to their devices even after Amazon claimed the problem was fixed.

In an effort to assist users still facing problems, an Amazon staff member recommended restarting the device by holding down the power button for 40 seconds. However, even after following this advice, many users reported that their Kindles were only able to download the title and cover art of books before getting stuck at 1 percent.

The outage not only affected downloading books directly onto Kindles but also impacted the ability to download books from Overdrive to Kindle devices using Libby. Surprisingly, downloading books to the Amazon Kindle apps on iOS and Android remained unaffected by the outage, adding to the confusion and frustration experienced by users.

Continued Issues with Amazon’s Services

This recent outage comes on the heels of another problem reported by Kindle users regarding Amazon’s “Send to Kindle” feature. This feature allows users to sideload ebooks and documents onto their Kindles without needing to connect to a computer. However, users reported receiving error messages indicating that their files could not be delivered due to a service error.

Despite Amazon’s efforts to resolve these issues promptly, the ongoing technical difficulties have left many Kindle users feeling frustrated and inconvenienced. The lack of consistent and reliable service from such a popular e-reader platform has raised concerns among users about the reliability of Amazon’s services.
