WhatsApp has been making strides in enhancing its user experience by adding new features to the platform. One such feature in the pipeline is the introduction of chat themes, which will allow users to customize the look and feel of their conversations. Users will have the option to change the colour of chat bubbles as well as the background using preset themes or by choosing their own colours and wallpapers.

The company has been working on developing a theme picker menu, which will offer users 10 different theme presets to choose from. These themes will include solid colour backgrounds in the top row, while the bottom row will feature themes inspired by landscape art. The chat bubble colours will be coordinated with the background colours, creating a cohesive and visually appealing chat experience.

Username Protection

In addition to chat themes, WhatsApp is also working on enhancing user privacy and security with the introduction of a Username PIN feature. This feature will allow users to set a unique username on WhatsApp without sharing their phone numbers. After setting up a username, users will be prompted to set up a PIN that will act as a passcode for starting new conversations using the username.

This new feature aims to give users more control over who can send them messages, helping to prevent unwanted contact from spammers and unknown users. By requiring others to know the PIN in order to initiate a conversation, users can ensure that only trusted contacts can reach out to them.

Development Progress

While these new features are still in development and not yet available to beta testers, screenshots of the theme picker on iOS give us a glimpse of what we can expect when the features are officially rolled out. The theme picker and Username PIN feature are expected to be released to beta testers before being made available to all users on the stable platform.

It is evident that WhatsApp is committed to continually improving its platform and providing users with new ways to personalize their messaging experience. By introducing chat themes and enhancing user privacy with the Username PIN feature, WhatsApp is setting the stage for a more engaging and secure communication environment for its users.
