WhatsApp made an exciting announcement on Tuesday regarding a new update that will allow users to set certain contacts as favourites. This update will enable users to prioritize the people they frequently contact by placing them at the top of the screen in WhatsApp Chats and Calls. The introduction of this feature comes shortly after WhatsApp introduced Context Cards, which aimed to enhance security for users who find themselves added to unknown group chats.

One of the key benefits of this new update is the ability to organize chats more efficiently by adding frequently contacted chats under the favourites filter. This filter will now appear alongside the All, Unread, and Groups filters on the instant messaging platform, making it easier for users to access their favourite contacts quickly.

Users can easily add contacts to their favourites by following a few simple steps. Firstly, open WhatsApp and select the favourites filter in the Chats tab. From there, users can choose the contacts or groups they wish to save as favourites. By tapping on the filter, users can view only the contacts they have selected. Additionally, users now have the option to set favourites in the Calls tab as well, making it convenient to access frequently contacted people across both chats and calls.

To manage contacts in the favourites list, users can head over to Settings, then Favorites, and finally Add to Favorites. Within this setting, users have the flexibility to manage or reorder contacts saved as favourites according to their preferences. This customization feature adds a personalized touch to the user experience, allowing individuals to tailor their WhatsApp contacts for easy access.

WhatsApp has stated that the new feature will begin rolling out starting today and will gradually be made available to users over the coming weeks. However, it is important to note that the availability of the feature may vary for different devices and operating systems. While the feature is still under development, it may only be accessible to beta testers registered via the Google Play Beta program at this time.

The introduction of the favourites feature on WhatsApp marks a significant update that aims to enhance user experience and streamline communication. By allowing users to set favourite contacts and easily access them within the app, WhatsApp continues to prioritize user convenience and efficiency. Stay tuned for the rollout of this feature and make sure to explore the new customization options available within your WhatsApp settings.
