The release of the latest expansion for Final Fantasy XIV, Dawntrail, has brought a wave of excitement among players, eager to explore new content and challenges. However, just three days after its official release, players have already voiced their concerns about some of the new features introduced in the game. This feedback has prompted Square Enix to announce a series of changes that are set to be implemented in the upcoming patches.

One of the standout features of the Dawntrail expansion is the introduction of new jobs, such as the Viper and the Pictomancer. Players have expressed their dissatisfaction with the complexity of the Viper’s skill rotation, describing it as too “busy”. In response to this feedback, Square Enix has announced plans to reduce the directional requirements of the Viper’s actions and make adjustments to the effects of certain abilities. These changes are expected to be rolled out in patch 7.05. Additionally, the Pictomancer will receive a bug fix in patch 7.01, addressing issues with disabling certain effects manually.

In addition to the new jobs, Square Enix will also be making adjustments to existing jobs based on player feedback. For example, the Monk will receive fixes to address performance issues caused by incorrect potencies and problems with stacking the Fury status. The Astrologian job will see changes to make it easier to use during damage burst phases, including adjustments to recast times and potency tweaks for certain actions. Similar adjustments will be made to the Samurai, Red Mage, and Black Mage jobs to enhance gameplay experience and balance.

One of the major concerns raised by players is the difficulty in maintaining enmity as a tank, especially when facing enemies with high-damage attacks. This issue is particularly challenging for Dark Knight and Gunbreaker characters, who have seen damage reductions in their movement abilities. To address this, Square Enix will be adding increased enmity effects to movement abilities and area-of-effect attacks for tanks in patch 7.01 and subsequent updates.

Despite the initial feedback and concerns raised by players, the overall rollout of the Dawntrail expansion has been relatively smooth compared to previous expansions. This can be attributed to the implementation of new servers and congestion-easing measures ahead of the launch. Director Naoki Yoshida has also assured players that several other issues affecting the overall gaming experience will be addressed in the upcoming patches, reflecting Square Enix’s commitment to delivering a high-quality and enjoyable experience for all players.

The feedback from players has played a crucial role in shaping the future direction of Final Fantasy XIV: Dawntrail. Square Enix’s responsiveness to player concerns and willingness to make adjustments based on feedback demonstrate their dedication to continuously improving and refining the game. With the upcoming changes and enhancements planned for the game’s jobs and overall gameplay experience, players can look forward to a more enjoyable and engaging gaming experience in the world of Final Fantasy XIV.
