WhatsApp seems to be in the process of testing a new feature that will allow users to record and share video notes directly from the camera interface. According to the feature tracker WABetaInfo, this new video note mode has been spotted in beta versions of the app on both Android and iOS platforms. The feature is said to appear alongside the existing Video and Photo options in the camera interface.

The new dedicated video note mode is said to be present in WhatsApp version 2.24.14.14 on Android, available through the Google Play Beta program. On iOS, users can find this feature in WhatsApp version 24.13.10.76, which is accessible through the TestFlight Program.

In 2023, WhatsApp introduced Instant Video Notes, allowing users to send 60-second video messages directly in chat. The platform has also started testing a shortcut button for quick replies to video notes. With the addition of the dedicated video notes option in the camera tab, sharing video notes is expected to become a more seamless experience for users.

Aside from video features, WhatsApp is also reportedly working on integrating AI technology into its platform. The company recently introduced Meta AI, an AI chatbot in India. Furthermore, WhatsApp is said to be developing an AI feature that will enable users to generate images of themselves through prompts. The feature, known as ‘Imagine Me,’ has been spotted in the latest WhatsApp beta for Android update.

Verification and Testing

Despite claims of the new video note mode, Gadgets 360 staff members were unable to verify its availability on the WhatsApp beta for Android. If the feature is indeed rolled out, it will provide users with an alternative way to send video notes, in addition to the existing method of long-pressing on the camera icon in a specific chat.

WhatsApp’s ongoing work on new video features and AI integration demonstrates its commitment to providing innovative tools for users to communicate effectively. The potential introduction of the dedicated video note mode could enhance the overall user experience and make sharing video content more convenient within the app.
