Instagram, the popular photo and video sharing platform owned by Meta, is rumored to be working on a way for users to have early access to new features. Currently, users can only access beta features by joining the Android Beta program, but this new “early access” feature might provide an alternate method for users to try out in-development features. A leaked screenshot shared by developer Alessandro Paluzzi hints at a new option in the Settings and activity tab, labeled as “early access to features”. This could potentially give users a chance to experiment with upcoming features before they are officially released to the public, similar to Google Search Labs and YouTube Experiments.

In addition to the early access feature, Instagram is also said to be working on incorporating more artificial intelligence (AI) into its app. One of the reported updates includes the ability for users to generate themes for chats using AI. Currently, Instagram offers users the option to customize chat themes with gradients, colors, and special themes. The leaked screenshot by Paluzzi reveals a new “Create with AI” option, along with other chat themes like Pickleball, Snack Party, and Minecraft. This AI integration could potentially enhance user experience by providing more personalized and automated customization options for chats.

Furthermore, Instagram is reportedly considering adding cross-posting functionality to its platform. This feature would allow users to easily share content from Instagram to Threads, Meta’s microblogging platform that competes directly with X (formerly Twitter). Similar to the existing cross-posting feature between Instagram and Facebook, this new functionality would enable users to seamlessly share their content across different platforms within the Meta ecosystem. This could potentially streamline content sharing and increase connectivity between Instagram and Threads users.

Instagram seems to be gearing up for some exciting new features and updates that could enhance user experience and engagement on the platform. From early access to upcoming features to AI-powered chat theme generation and cross-posting functionality, these updates could offer users more ways to connect, customize, and share content within the Instagram and Meta ecosystem. Keep an eye out for these new features as Instagram continues to evolve and innovate in the social media space.
