The Volkswagen ID Buzz has taken the market by storm with its innovative design and electric-powered engine. However, one company, Ventje, has taken it a step further with the introduction of the eVentje – a custom camper build-out that promises to revolutionize the camping experience. Let’s take a closer look at this remarkable creation and explore its unique features that set it apart from the rest.
The eVentje conversion is now available for sale in Europe and is designed by Ventje, a rapidly growing company based in the Netherlands. This camper build-out is meant to fill the gap until VW releases a California edition of the ID Buzz, which is still a few years away. The design of the eVentje camper is truly jaw-dropping, with over 100 magnets keeping all the wooden surfaces aligned and locked in place. It features a kitchen accessible from both inside and outside, a pop-top tent, and a versatile interior that transforms from a lounge to a bed to luxurious outdoor furniture in minutes.
Ventje has made significant improvements to the kitchen area of the camper, providing more adaptable prep surfaces and smarter storage solutions. The addition of two induction cooktops, powered by a 2200W inverter and 2160Wh leisure battery, ensures that campers can cook their meals efficiently. The inclusion of a 350-watt solar panel, mini shore-power outlet, and eight USB sockets allows campers to keep their devices charged while on the road. Moreover, the camper features various lighting options, including dimmable LED light strips and a closable sunroof in the pop-top tent.
Vehicle Integration
Despite the customizations made by Ventje, the ID Buzz remains a joy to drive, with a rattle-free experience on the road. However, VW’s poorly designed software continues to be a point of frustration for users. It is expected that VW will eventually enable a camping mode on the ID Buzz, which would enhance the overall camping experience. The eVentje camper can accommodate up to four people but is currently highway legal for only two individuals. It is built around the regular-wheelbase ID Buzz, with plans for a long-wheelbase model to be introduced later in the year.
Pricing and Availability
The eVentje camper is not cheap, with a starting price of €95,000 (approximately $103,000) in Europe. Despite the high price tag, Ventje has seen a surge in orders from customers across Europe. Orders placed today will ship in nine months to customers in select European countries, with plans to expand to the UK and US in the future. Ventje’s innovative approach to camper design has filled a void left by VW, delivering a worthy all-electric successor to the iconic Type 2 camper.
The eVentje camper represents a new era in camping experiences, combining the retrofuturistic appeal of the ID Buzz with Ventje’s warm custom design. With its versatile interior, innovative features, and unparalleled comfort, the eVentje is set to become the go-to choice for campers looking to embark on unforgettable adventures.
