The recent beta patch for Manor Lords introduces a brand new trading system that allows players to trade between their own regions using Trading Posts. This eliminates the need for Barter or Pack Stations, streamlining the trading process and making it more efficient. Additionally, players now have the option to turn off trading with Free Merchants and Tradepoints for each good type, giving them more control over their trade routes. The import display has also been improved to dynamically show the lowest possible price for each good, making it easier for players to make informed decisions.
One of the significant changes in the latest patch is the introduction of the “Annual Royal Tax” or “King’s Tax”. This tax is collected from the Treasury once per year and is calculated per resident. According to developer Greg Styczeń, this new tax is designed to slightly punish bad workplace optimization and prevent players from hoarding large sums of cash. It adds a new layer of complexity to the game and challenges players to manage their finances more effectively.
Aside from the new trading system and tax mechanics, the patch also includes several visual improvements and gameplay tweaks. Players can now see a visual representation of carrying corpses, adding a new level of realism to the game. The 30-day mourning periods have also been added to help players monitor the impact on productivity. Animal behavior has been adjusted to create more convincing herds, enhancing the overall immersion of the game.
Developer Styczeń has commented that the patch aims to address several significant problems that players have been facing. These include issues with Hildebolt’s claims, the spawning of “None” people who refuse to work, trading post congestion, and various optimization problems in large cities. The patch also tackles weak archer damage, inefficient sawpits triggering storage issues, farming problems such as crop erasing and inefficient harvests, and oversupply/undersupply systems that were too harsh. Additionally, the patch addresses issues with homeless residents and high ale consumption.
One intriguing aspect mentioned in the patch notes is the appearance of “None” people in towns after raids. These individuals seemingly do not engage in any activities and can even cause the game to crash. Their presence adds a quirky element to the game, prompting further exploration and investigation. Perhaps these “None” people could be recognized as an official religion in the game, adding a unique twist to the gameplay experience.
The latest Manor Lords update brings a host of new features, improvements, and tweaks that enhance the overall gameplay experience. From the new trading system and tax mechanics to visual enhancements and gameplay adjustments, the patch aims to address player feedback and improve the overall quality of the game. Players can access the patch by following a set of instructions on Steam, allowing them to enjoy the latest updates and features in Manor Lords. It is evident that the developers are committed to continuously improving and expanding the game, making it a truly immersive and engaging experience for players.
