Snapchat has recently introduced a new ‘AR Pichkari’ lens just in time for the Holi festival in 2024. This innovative lens, developed by a third-party developer, allows users to virtually splash their friends with colors using their smartphone’s rear camera. It simulates the traditional use of a pichkari (water gun) during the festive celebrations of Holi.

The AR Pichkari lens was created by Ronin Labs and is now accessible to all Snapchat users on the platform. To utilize this exciting feature, users can easily search for the lens through the Snapchat app’s search bar. Alternatively, they can follow a direct link provided by the company.

Once the AR Pichkari lens is selected, users can switch to the rear camera on Snapchat and aim it at their friends. The app leverages AR technology to identify the friend’s location in the viewfinder and initiate the virtual color spraying process. As users move their phones, the stream of colors adjusts accordingly, mimicking the movements of a physical pichkari.

Users can actively engage with the AR Pichkari filter, moving around to virtually spray their friends with Holi colors. A color indicator bar on the screen tracks the amount of color remaining for spraying. Approximately halfway through the spraying process, a message saying “Holi Hai!” pops up on the screen, enhancing the festive experience.

Snapchat’s AR Pichkari lens is readily available for use on the messaging platform ahead of the Holi festivities in 2024. Users can also access the AR lens by scanning the Snapcode with their Snap camera on iOS and Android smartphones updated to the latest version of the Snapchat app.

The introduction of the AR Pichkari lens on Snapchat adds an exciting new dimension to celebrating the festival of Holi. Users can engage in virtual color splashing with their friends, enhancing the joy and festivity of the occasion. This creative use of augmented reality technology showcases Snapchat’s commitment to providing innovative and interactive experiences for its users. Embrace the spirit of Holi in a fun and digital way with the AR Pichkari lens on Snapchat!
