Google is set to revamp its smartphone strategy in 2024 by introducing three different models of its upcoming Pixel 9. According to reports from 91mobiles, the renders that surfaced earlier this year, created by OnLeaks, were actually of the Pixel 9 Pro and Pixel 9 Pro XL, not the regular Pixel 9. The standard Pixel 9 design is now being shared for the first time in new images, revealing Google’s plans to diversify its smartphone lineup.

Design Changes

The standard Pixel 9 will feature flat edges, deviating from the curved design of the Pixel 8 and 8 Pro. Additionally, the display corners are becoming more rounded with each iteration. Google seems to be taking inspiration from Apple’s iPhone strategy by offering two different sizes in the Pro tier and re-introducing the XL moniker for the larger model. This move caters to users who found the Pixel 8 Pro too large, aiming to strike a better balance between screen size and usability.

The leaked renders suggest that all three Pixel 9 models will have different screen sizes:
– Pixel 9 Pro XL: 6.5-inch display
– Pixel 9 Pro: 6.1-inch display
– Pixel 9: 6.03-inch display

Interestingly, the Pixel 9 Pro XL will have a slightly smaller display compared to the current Pixel 8 Pro, which boasts a 6.7-inch screen. This adjustment reflects Google’s effort to address the needs of users who prefer a more compact device without compromising on display quality.

Both the “Pro” models of the Pixel 9 will feature a triple-camera system on the back, promising to deliver Google’s best photography capabilities in a more compact form factor. This enhancement will appeal to users who prioritize camera performance in their smartphone choice.

While the Pixel 9 lineup is generating buzz, Google has other devices in the pipeline before the flagship launch. Consumers can look forward to the Pixel 8A and Pixel Fold 2, which may be showcased during the company’s I/O keynote in May. The release of these devices will precede the highly anticipated Pixel 9 series, building excitement for Google’s evolving smartphone portfolio.

Google’s decision to introduce three models of the Pixel 9 marks a strategic shift in its smartphone offerings. By providing a range of screen sizes and camera capabilities, the tech giant aims to cater to diverse user preferences and compete effectively in the competitive smartphone market. As consumers eagerly await the official launch of the Pixel 9 series, Google’s innovative approach promises to deliver an enhanced smartphone experience for users worldwide.
